Toys and Equipment Make Life Normal Many of the youth we serve don't know what it is like to grow up as a child. Faced with abuse, neglect, or being "the parent" of the family means that these children often lose some of the most important years of their lives. This is especially true with older children who live with us while their mom is on her road to recovery. At Evangel Home, we seek to change that outcome. But we, too, are facing obstacles that...in reality...can be resolved through some practical planning and a little hard work. And this is where you come in. Our daycare attendant, Sandra Green, may have said it best, "What I like least about my job is not having age-appropriate toys and equipment for older kids." Think about this. The majority of our toys and playground equipment only appeal to younger children. Moms and toddlers are being nurtured, but we have yet to reach our fullest potential in serving kids ages 7 through 12. We need donations of toys, games, and other play equipment that will challenge and encourage the older children at Evangel Home. We also need help maintaining many of the larger pieces of play equipment that all ages play on. Please contact our volunteer coordinator, Joyce Williams, for details on where and when you can help and donate. And...bring a friend! |
