Since 1955 Evangel Home in Fresno has provided temporary living quarters and counseling to women and children in crisis. We have always operated solely on private funds provided by the community of Fresno and beyond. By not accepting any government funds, we retain our independence and our identity in Christ.
Our CrossRoads Apartments house women who have made a commitment to turn their lives around – up to 25 women and their children at any one time. The roofs on these apartments need to be replaced so that we can continue to provide this necessary shelter. These are the stories of some of the women who have called the CrossRoads home.
Our programs include:
Crisis Home: 28-Day Emergency Shelter CrossRoads: Residential Program Garden: Alternative Sentencing Program Community Connection: Graduate Program

Here are some of their stories...
THEN: Patricia, entered the Evangel Home in 1986 and was in the first group of women to receive a graduation ceremony from CrossRoads, then called the Extension Program.
“I was totally distraught and didn’t have any coping skills to deal with my situation. Evangel Home took me at the worst point in my entire life. I was numb and lacked any knowledge of how to take care of myself emotionally.
NOW: Patricia is our Program Manager and is also in charge of our GARDEN alternative sentencing program.
THEN: Connie had no place to live in 1992 when she came to Evangel Home. She was seeking help for her daughter, 4-year-old Briana who has cerebral palsy. Connie was pregnant with Ivanna. She was accepted into our CrossRoads program and graduated in 1993.
NOW: Connie is a hard-working single mom who has raised two beautiful and well-adjusted daughters. She has stayed in touch with Evangel Home through the years, and we have been able to be part of this wonderful family.
THEN: Shayla came to Evangel Home on Feb 6, 2009 and moved into the CrossRoads apartments in March. She came with Shawn, a 3-week old infant, and 6-year-old Jayden. Shayla says, “I was a mess. I was out of control and didn’t have any structure in my life.”
NOW: Shayla will graduate from CrossRoads in December and then apply for Community Connection — our graduate program. She has accomplished many things at Evangel Home and says that we have helped change her life by believing in her and helping her find out who she really is.
You can help Evangel Home fix our roof with your financial support. Please donate online today so our services will bring blessing to another generation of women and children. How close are we to raising our needed funds?
